Tim McGraw Strikes pay dirt · Sep 13, 01:18 PM by Tim's #1 Fan
Country superstar couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have offically smashed all previous records for highest-grossing live tour in country music history, after selling just over $89 million in tickets over the summer.
Last year Kenny Chesney set the previous record of $62 million, but this year is definately Tim and Faith’s year to shine as their Soul2Soul II tour was the top grossing tour in North America for ANY genre, ahead of Madonna’s $86 million.
However Gary Boniovanni, the Pollstar editor, believes the Rolling Stones will top off their year with sales in excess of $100 miliion as they kick off a 2 month tour in Boston next week.
Tim McGraw and Faith hill’s Soul2Soul II tour covered 55 cities and started back in April in Columbus, Ohio, and offically wrapped up last week on September 3rd with 3 back to back performances at the Mandalay Bay casino resort in Las Vegas with a total of 73 shows with 53 sold out shows.
“We have been blessed over the past several months to have the opportunity to do what it is that we love to do most,” they said in a joint statement.
“We’ve spent time with the most passionate and professional individuals in the business (our crew), we’ve seen the beauty that is our country and we’ve been honored to have had the chance to meet so many fans along the way. It’s an experience that could be difficult to replicate.”
